    Montclair Golf Club located in West Orange, New Jersey is seeking an honest and upstanding individual as their next spray technician. This position is a learning and development role with upside to grow into a managerial role through continued education and progressive responsibilities.

    Montclair Golf Club is a 300-acre, four course private equity golf club located in West Orange, New Jersey and is looking to hire an honest and upstanding individual as their Pesticide Spray Technician.

    Position reports to the Director of Golf Course Operations; Superintendents; Assistant Superintendent
    Supervises: No supervisory duties are included in this position.

    Originally conceived by two legendary golf course architects, Donald Ross and Charles Banks, Montclair Golf Club's courses are amongst the most distinctive in the nation. Our four 9-hole layouts—each beginning and ending at the clubhouse for play-and-stay enjoyment—challenge players of all abilities to bring their best game with every stroke.

    Club highlights:

    • Green Dept. Schedule: 40-55 hours per week in season (March through November), 35-40 hours during off season.
    • Green Dept. Staff size: 35-40 full, part time and seasonal (March through November), 15 off season
    • 40-55 hours per week during season, 35-40 during off season

    INITIAL PRIORITIES OF POSITION:

    • Apply pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers as directed to maintain excellent condition of grounds and golf course; document and post online all applications.
    • Compile reports of pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer use on the golf course and calculate use rates for all products applied on the property.
    • Maintain proper inventory of products.
    • Works alongside management team and diverse team members to care for the golf course.

    KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, APTITUDE AND OTHER TRAITS:

    • Complete knowledge of chemical application equipment
    • Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of the following types of equipment:
      • Mechanically pressurized spray equipment; hand-operated spray equipment; hand-operated rotary spreaders; hand-operated drop spreaders; and utility tractors.
    • Knowledge of the rules of golf and/or ability to play golf desirable.
    • Work closely with Superintendents in daily operations and executing Turfgrass Management

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A Degree, Certificate or multiple seasons in Turfgrass Management
    • Conversational (Spanish) a plus.
    • Current NJDEP state certification or licensing as a pesticide and fertilizer applicator.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Capable of handling the physical demands and work environment outside in various weather conditions.
