    WSP is growing and we have an exciting career opportunity for a Lead Water Resources Project Manager to join our North Mountain Operations in our South Jordan, UT office.

    We are open to an individual who has experience managing flood control, stormwater, and natural hazard mitigation projects. We value diverse water resource experience to help grow the water service line with our team of talented engineers.

    The individual will work closely with current leadership to develop existing relationships with municipalities, governmental, and federal agencies to identify projects and pursue business opportunities.

    Successful project wins will be managed by this individual from project setup and kickoff, through execution of the project.

    The individual will be assisted by the entire water resources team to provide value to the client and achieve successful project outcomes.

    This individual will have opportunities to manage water resources engineering projects for a variety of clients in Utah and across the western US
    Your Impact


    • Work with Senior Engineer/Engineering Managers supporting our hydraulics and hydrology groups across the Southwest Mountain District
    • Join an established team completing projects that include tasks such as the development of hydrologic and hydraulic models of open and closed systems, flood hazard mitigation analysis, risk data analysis and GIS analysis
    • Manage and coordinate project staff and sub-contractors to ensure safe, cost effective, efficient, and timely completion of projects to meet and/or exceed client expectations
    • Oversee the development of project budgets, schedules and reports
    • Act as a technical professional resource for the successful completion of challenging projects
    • Collaborate and participate in technical discussions with team members.
    • Mentor and train junior personnel to become more prepared to take on additional roles and responsibilities
    • Develop and maintain communication channels with clients, stake holders, and internal personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly and provides first class engineering services
    • Pursue and grow clients in the public or private sector.
    • Participate in proposal efforts.
    • Gather up-to-date information firsthand at sites, meeting with clients and constantly monitoring work performances
    • Occasional travel to project sites in Utah and attend public meetings
    • May support transportation engineering, drainage engineering, stream restoration design, and floodplain management work
    Who You Are
    Required Qualifications


    • BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree required; MS preferred
    • 7-10+ years of hydrology / hydraulics and water resources experience preferably with FEMA Risk MAP familiarity
    • Strong technical skills regarding hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approaches and commonly used software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, FEMA Risk Map Guidelines and Standards)
    • Strong knowledge of the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program and implementation at the community level
    • Ability to pursue and develop clients in the public or private sectors.
    • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites primarily in Utah.
    • An individual who has other water industry experience such as stormwater or water/wastewater may also be a good fit for this opportunity if connected in the state of Utah
    • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
    • Project management and/or business development experience
    • Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
