    Salary:

    • The annual base salary for newly appointed Border Patrol Agents varies depending on the grade level. For GL-5 positions, it ranges from $49,739 to $61,833. For GL-7 positions, it ranges from $56,623 to $71,615. For GL-9 positions, it ranges from $63,148 to $81,480. For GS-11 positions, it ranges from $73,939 to $96,116.

    Job Description:

    ">

    As a Border Patrol Agent, you will be responsible for detecting, preventing, and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the land borders. Your duties will include:

    ">
      ">
    • Maintaining surveillance from covert positions
      • ">
    • Responding to electronic sensor alarms and interpreting tracks, marks, and other physical evidence
      • ">
    • Using infrared scopes during night operations
      • ">
    • Responding to aircraft sightings and other anti-smuggling activities
      • ">
    • Performing farm and ranch checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
      • ">
    • Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets
      • ">

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    To be eligible for this position, you must possess one of the following:

    ">
      ">
    • One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations
      • ">
    • A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
      • ">
    • A combination of general work experience and successfully completed college education
      • ">
    ">

    For higher-grade positions (GL-7, GL-9, GS-11), additional qualifications apply.
