    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Buyer position is an entry level position responsible for the purchasing of goods and services required, ensuring on time deliveries and customer satisfaction. The primary objective is to identify and obtain the products and services that must be obtained externally. The Buyer, in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager and Senior Buyer, will evaluate and determine the best supplier, value and delivery for those products and services.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Create basic purchase orders based on production demands and purchase requests.
    • Follow up on purchase orders placed by self or others within the department.
    • Ensure material is received on time to mitigate production delays.
    • Create and maintain relationships with external vendors to ensure on time deliveries.
    • Under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager and/or Senior Buyer, manage vendor relationships.
    • Maintain MRP Production Shortage Reports
    • Assist with safety stock levels in house and with external vendors.
    • Maintain Standard cost, EOQ, and Min/Max within MRP
    • Maintain open, effective, and detailed communications with production and warehouse staff to plan and coordinate the completion of customer orders.
    • Effectively communicate delivery dates for all material shortages with the Operations team
    • Maintain meticulous record keeping.
    • Under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager and/or Senior Buyer, work towards reductions in material costs
    • Develop multiple vendor options where possible.
    • Develop reports to reduce manual review and sorting.
    • With the assistance of the Purchasing Manager and/or Senior Buyer, learn to read and understand parts diagrams.
    • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Associate degree or relevant experience.
    • 1+ year experience in purchasing
    • Demonstrated experience evaluating vendors.
    • Ability to read and understand parts' diagrams and various revisions.
    • Some experience with MRP Planned Order reports.
    • Some experience with MRP Exception Reports
    • MS Office and MRP software (Net Suite experience is a plus) skills, preferred.
    • Ability to create and modify excel spreadsheets.
    • Independent self-starter with positive attitude
    • Well organized with an eye for detail
    • Sense of urgency

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is also regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to lift 25#, with or without assistance.
    • Ability to use a computer for long periods of time.
    • Possess a personal cell phone for office use.
    • Ability and willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed to complete projects.
