    Qualifications

    Education
    Required -Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field

    Work Experience
    Required -Minimum of 5 years corporate communications or business communications experience including 3 years in a management role.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

    • Good organizational, time management, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

    • Professional attitude and skills to relate to executive management, staff and business and community leaders.

    • Exhibits excellent leadership and self-direction, good judgment in handling difficult situations.

    • Must have computer skills and be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to the role.

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
    Examples of Work

    25%: Develop and direct a communication plan for the Port that: is consistent with the mission of the organization and its overall marketing strategy; includes credible, meaningful and clear messaging to a range of stakeholders, many with conflicting agendas, and; us continually evaluated to ensure it addresses evolving market conditions in an extremely competitive global industry. Adjustments to the plan may be necessary more than once a year.

    20%: Oversee advertising for the Port, including creative design and layout of messages, identify media options and decide ultimate media placement and frequency of advertising and negotiate rates.

    20%: Responsible for all Port publications, collateral material and video products. Specialized publications, invitations and PowerPoint presentations fall into this category. Maintenance of appropriate mailing lists for both printed and electronic distribution of published items is essential.

    10%: Manage a staff consisting of at least three employees, providing leadership and direction so that all communications functions are handled in a professional, timely, and creative manner consistent with the overall communications plan.

    10%: Project management all media efforts and project related multi-media campaigns, including print, multi-media and social efforts. This involves supervising the Media Relations Manager/PID 1 in the planning, writing, editing and distribution of press releases, arranging press conferences and other publicity-oriented events, contributing to multi-media scripts and video efforts, as well as being available for media inquiries.

    5%: Inform executive staff and other stakeholder public relations officials on issues relating to public relations activities. Evaluates and reports on media relations tactics. Works closely with government relations and community outreach team to ensure messaging to the public and stakeholders is accurate, timely and consistent.

    5%: Provide guidance and oversight to ensure brand standards are properly adhered to by Board employees.

    5%: Assist with Port visitors, dignitaries, and other guests as needed. Conduct Port briefings and tours and entertain customers as required.
