    Allera - Founding Software Engineer

    Location:

    Chattanooga, TN (In-person, potentially remote for the right candidate)

    About Allera:

    Allera is building the operating system for the food manufacturing industry. Our initial product helps food companies go digital and uses AI to aggregate data for food companies to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and maintain compliance. This empowers food safety teams to spend less time on tedious manual tasks and more time on keeping food safe. By working in the food industry, we have a unique opportunity to transform an industry that affects everyones lives.

    Role Overview:

    This position is aimed at a mid-level, founding engineer who will collaborate closely with our CTO to build out our product roadmap, support and enable the success of our current customers, and influence the future of Alleras technology platform. Put simply, it involves deeply understanding what our customers need and rapidly delivering solutions.

    We're gaining impressive momentum with our initial customers, yet there's still a ton to be built. As part of our team, your contributions for this year will include:

    • Automating the exchange of supplier compliance and certification documents
    • Expanding the functionality of our form digitization feature
    • Fortifying our existing APIs
    • Advancing our data analysis capabilities with Business Intelligence and Generative AI
    • Scaling our development, CI/CD, and monitoring frameworks

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, and optimize our full-stack solutions, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and user experience
    • Build API services, tests, React components, cloud infrastructure, and analytics in collaboration with the product and design team
    • Assist in setting technical direction and establish/contribute to software development best practices for code quality, data security, and adherence to industry standards
    • Collaborate with the company as a whole and participate in planning and design meetings, daily standups, and other team and product building processes
    • Work closely with product stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

    Requirements:

    Minimum:

    • A passionate self-driven software engineer with 3+ years of experience delivering modern full stack solutions
    • Experience shipping production software in a team environment
    • Comfortability jumping around the stack and wearing many different hats
    • Experience building scalable APIs and microservices using AWS
    • Experience working with , Typescript, and
    • A product-oriented mindset; comfortable translating nontechnical product requirements into code, and opinionated about usability and design
    • A user-first mindset; deep empathy for our users is necessary to build the best products

    What to expect from the interview process:

    • Initial phone screen (30 minutes): have a casual conversation to learn about what drives you and answer any questions you might have about our team, vision, and mission
    • Behavioral Interview (1 hour): dive into a discussion with a founder about your professional experience including what went well and what did not
    • Technical Interview (1 hour): participate in a hands-on interview where you demonstrate your technical abilities by conceptualizing and white-boarding a new feature
    • Meet the Rest of the Team: meet more of the team so that you can explore what a day at Allera would look like

    Compensation:

    $110,000 - $140,000 + early stage equity
