The Accountant is responsible for handling day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, account reconciliations, and timely reporting. This role will support the accounting team in maintaining financial data and ensuring compliance with company policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

General Ledger Maintenance:

• Responsible for preparing and maintaining the general ledger, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Reconciles accounts and ensures journal entries reflect the correct financial activity, in compliance with accounting standards.
• Monitors and adjusts entries to ensure proper accounting practices are followed, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

Month-End & Year-End Close:

• Supports the month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Ensures accuracy of financial data during the close process and provides necessary documentation for audits.
• Assists in finalizing reports and schedules, making sure they align with accounting standards and are ready for review.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

• Manages the processing of invoices, ensuring accurate and timely payment of bills and expenses.
• Maintains organized records of accounts payable and receivable transactions, reconciling accounts when necessary.
• Follows up with vendors to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payments.

Payroll Processing:

• Assists with the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Verifies that all payroll taxes, benefits, and deductions are correctly recorded, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Reviews timecards and payroll data, ensuring correct payments to employees on a bi-weekly basis.

Bank Reconciliations:

• Responsible for conducting monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts, credit cards, and cash-related accounts.
• Investigates discrepancies in bank statements and ensures corrections are made in the accounting records.
• Ensures accurate reflection of all transactions in the general ledger and resolves any issues with bank balances.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Prepares financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for management's review.
• Supports the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and providing insights into financial performance.
• Analyzes financial data, highlighting key trends and variances, and provides actionable recommendations to management.

Tax Preparation Support:

• Assists in the gathering of necessary documents and data for tax filings, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.
• Supports the finance team during tax season, helping ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
• Helps prepare tax-related documents and works with external tax professionals to meet deadlines.

Special Projects:

• Contributes to special accounting projects as directed by the Financial Controller or Accounting Analyst.
• Assists with process improvements, systems upgrades, or any other ad-hoc projects that align with department needs
• Helps with additional reporting or analysis as required, contributing to the success of key initiatives.

Qualification and/or Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience (1+ years) in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and control.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Intuit QuickBooks.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $25.50 per hour
