    The department

    The Enterprise Data department plays a crucial role in supporting the success of the business.

    We are responsible for developing and implementing a data strategy, governance framework, and management model to support all firm data types with high quality data obtained from trusted and resilient sources, across our investment management, trading, distribution, regulatory and operational areas.

    Overview of the role


    Reporting to the Global Head of Enterprise Data, the Enterprise Data Architect will collaborate with JHI's data stewards, technology infrastructure and product teams and multiple functional groups across several lines of business, to drive the development and management of conceptual data models across our key data domains to support the firm's data-centric strategic goals and objectives.

    Your opportunity

    Responsible for the overall conceptual data architecture across the JHI enterprise
    Define and design the high-level conceptual data architecture looking enterprise-wide across data life cycle events, sources and systems
    Review proposed designs from within and outside the team to ensure their efficacy and conformance with design principles and guidelines
    Provide data systems architecture advice and mentorship to delivery teams and workstream managers
    Ownership and coordination of data change transversally and management of impact to data architecture
    Develop and promote the strategic data platform (DNA) design principles
    Assess existing and new data requirements on key projects and programs and vice versa.
    Propose/implement changes to the data architecture to ensure requirements are met.
    Contribute to data architecture process improvements and ways of working initiatives
    Partner with Technology teams on developing data-related requirements, prioritizing demand, setting clear scope of responsibilities, and executing an implementation strategy driven by measurable business impact
    Identify opportunities to build efficiencies of scale, surface data redundancies and inconsistencies, reduce risk associated with manual data handling, and deliver creative solutions to the business
    Develop effective relationships with business areas, data operations, technology, and risk to support the delivery of data-related services to the organization

    Must have skills

    Experience with conceptual architecture blueprints and designs
    Experience with database architecture and data modeling
    Experience collaborating and delivering logical data models alongside solution architects
    Experience in data model design lifecycle, in particular mapping of data domains and conceptual modelling
    Business analysis skills and ability to understand and make design recommendations on interrelationships and dependencies of various data domains
    Experience with data lineage mapping, taxonomies, high level data flows, data catalogue and metadata management
    Experience using typical data modelling tools such as ERWin, Oracle data modeller etc.
    Experience using typical data lineage and metadata management tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Alteryx, PowerBI etc.
    Knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake, PowerBI, API, graphQL
    Proficiency in development tools and languages employed in the JHI Cloud such as Python and SQL
    Understanding of common software development methods and the full development lifecycle
    Knowledge of common master data management (MDM) architectures and ETL methods

    Structured business systems analysis methods:
    Relational and dimensional data modeling, process modeling
    Specification and report writing
    Proficiency in Cloud based analytics processing
    Self-motivated, highly driven and solution-oriented mindset, with a proven track record of execution and collaborative problem solving

    Compensation information

    The base salary range for this position is $190,000 - $200,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different. This position will be posted until April 30, 2024.

    Annual Bonus Opportunity:
    Position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus award from the profit pool. The profit pool is funded based on Company profits. Individual bonuses are determined based on Company, department, team and individual performance.
