    Backend Engineer - Charlotte, United States - Vanguard

    We are looking for...

    • 3+ years of NodeJS API development experience using frameworks such as NestJS
    • Experience with building cloud services in AWS including DynamoDB, ECS, Lambda
    • Demonstrated API experience building stable API's supporting multiple consumers without causing breaking changes
    • Deep understanding of scalable stateless application development and knowledge of best practices for building highly available systems
    • A highly collaborative and fast learner that's willing to work wherever they're needed on the team
    • Demonstrated experience with software engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, dependency injection, testable code, and algorithms.
    • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues in a manner all can understand
    • Ability to work with Scrum Masters and Product Owners to prioritize work relative to both delivering business value and addressing technical debt.
    • Research and employs contemporary software development techniques to ensure quality and improve velocity of the team
    • Experience with Agile software development methodology to follow architecture standards and best practices

    In this role, you will:

    • Provide senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrate third party products.
    • Translate technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Write programs, develop code, test artifacts, and produce reports.
    • Elevate code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provide follow up production support. Submit change control requests and documents.
    • Thoroughly understands software development methodology. Thoroughly understand development architecture standards. Train and mentor staff with less experience. Resolve elevated issues.
    • Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients. Perform systems analysis activities.
    • Thoroughly understand client business functions and technology needs. Has a broad understanding of Vanguard's technologies, tools, and applications, including those that interface with business area and systems.
    • Interface with cross functional team members, and communicate systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.
    • Thoroughly understand and comply with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures, and verify that deliverables meet requirements.


    What it takes:

    • Minimum of five years related work experience, with at least one year of development experience.
    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
