    STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe Business Development Representative is responsible for promoting positive relationships between the hospice and the community at large, participating in and/or presenting community education programs and providing support and ongoing hospice education to potential and established hospice referral sources. The Business Development Representative reports to the Director of Business Development.
    Employee shall be eligible for a quarterly productivity bonusRESPONSIBILITIESPhilosophy. Exhibits behavior that is indicative of an understanding of hospice philosophy and mission.
    Community Education. Maintains a current, working knowledge of hospice services in order to provide effective hospice education within the community.

    Increases community awareness of hospice philosophy, mission, and scope of services by developing and presenting educational programs to potential and established referral sources and the community at large.

    Revenue Development.

    Seeks to enhance the revenue-producing capacity of the hospice by increasing community awareness of hospice philosophy, mission and scope of services and maintaining referral source communication to ensure satisfaction with services and quality of care.

    Contract/Affiliations.

    May act as an agent of the hospices in the establishment and maintenance of written service agreements with approved providers as assigned by supervisor and/or Hospice Administrator.

    Regulatory and Legal Compliance. Maintains a high awareness of legal codes and regulatory issues that relate to hospice services.

    Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the hospice, including state licensure of agency, Medicare/Medicaid certification, Food and Drug Administration regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and Department of Transportation regulations.

    Communication. Provides effective communication with patients, families, physicians, hospice staff members, supervisors, referral sources, and other health care professionals. Maintains respectful and professional communication at all times.
    Policy and Procedure.

    Performs all duties in compliance with hospice policies and procedures including infection control policies and hospice safety policies and procedures.

    Professional Growth. Participates in professional development of self to maintain standards of job performance.
    Information Management. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Releases patient information onlyto authorized individuals/organizations in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

    Seeks approval of presentation content from supervisor and/or Hospice Administrator prior to presenting community education programs to ensure accuracy of information.

    Resource Management.

    Demonstrates skill in prioritizing workload, completing assignments in a timely manner and with approval of supervisor, institutes change that promotes efficiency.

    Utilizes hospice resources cost effectively. Utilizes community resources when appropriate.
    Meeting/In-service Attendance. Attends all mandatory hospice staff meetings/in-services for job category.
    Availability.

    Available to provide services on scheduled work days and reachable by phone/cell phone/pager during hospice hours of operation and/or when scheduled for on-call.

    Returns calls/pages promptly to ensure patient care/office needs are met.
    Transportation. Provides own transportation that is in good working order. If provided a company vehicle, abides by company vehicle policy.
    Other. Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and/or Hospice Administrator.


    QualificationsGeneral:
    The Business Development Representative must have effective social interaction skills to promote positive relationships within the community. He/she must have effective organizational skills and be able to perform a variety tasks efficiently.
    Must be flexible and able to adjust to changing tasks frequently. Visual and auditory acuity required. Light to moderate degrees of stress is incurred in daily employment.

    Must have valid drivers license, reliable vehicle, maintain valid auto liability insurance, and be able to drive throughout service area under a variety of weather conditions.

    Contact with a variety of environmental conditions required. Must be able to maintain concentration during frequent interruptions.


    Education:
    Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

    Experience:
    Prefer references from previous employers reporting successful employment of at least one (1) year in a similar position.
