Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Property Accountant to handle all aspects of site level accounting, analysis and reporting for a regional portfolio of U.S.
This would include the preparation of financial statements, explanations of balance sheet variances, review of base rent, recoveries and expense variance analyses.
They will also be responsible for ensuring that all necessary supporting and accounting schedules are prepared and maintained on a monthly and quarterly basis.
The position requires strong attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, the ability to focus on meeting deadlines, as well as be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
The individual must thrive in a team environment and be flexible regarding ad hoc reporting; possess the ability to form strong working relationships throughout the organization and oversee staff level employees.
Responsibilities IncludeProcess monthly and quarterly accounting close entriesReview general ledger balances for completeness, accuracy and account classificationPrepare general ledger account reconciliations, including sub-ledger to ledger systemsReview reconciliations prepared by staff level accountants or outside vendorsReview/prepare detailed analysis of general ledger account fluctuations, coordinating with lease analysts, property managers and administrators for explanationsPrepare Net Operating Income and same site variance analysisAssist in all day-to-day accounting activities, including posting of multiple property accounting transactionsReview the fixed asset ledgerMonitor property tax payments; ground rent paymentsPrepare and process revenue recovery true-up adjustmentsUnderstand mortgage terms (reporting, impound and escrow reimbursement requirements)Special projects as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accountingAt least 4 years' experience in public accounting and/or commercial real estate accountingProperty accounting and analysis experienceAdvance Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, with ability to quickly pick up other systemsStrong analytical, written, and verbal skillsMRI experience a plus
The expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $85,000.
The actual compensation will be based on factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, market and business considerations and other factors permitted by law.
