    Description

    The primary functions are to perform technical activities in the laboratory related to tests on human specimens and to record laboratory data while working under the technical oversight of a California-licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Assists in specimen testing under direct and constant supervision according to established procedures working under the technical oversight of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and in compliance with CA regulatory restrictions. Uses automated and/or digital devices such as timers or thermometers in performing tasks.
    • Records dates of receipt in use and expiration for all reagents kits controls and standards used for assigned assays. Ensures material used is not expired prior to use.
    • Pipettes using pre-set devices calibrated and approved automatic devices or fixed volume dispensers.
    • Performs under direct supervision preventative maintenance PM on equipment documents PM appropriately makes minor repairs and immediately contacts appropriate personnel for problems requiring more complex repairs.
    • Develops an ever-increasing understanding of laboratory medicine and the clinical significance of laboratory results.
    • Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of CLIA CAP and other regulatory bodies.
    • Documents all activities as necessary using good documentation practices Examples include preventative maintenance logs instrument function checks troubleshooting and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job related duties requested by department management.

    Required Education/Degree:

    Bachelors degree in a chemical biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
