- Assists in specimen testing under direct and constant supervision according to established procedures working under the technical oversight of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and in compliance with CA regulatory restrictions. Uses automated and/or digital devices such as timers or thermometers in performing tasks.
- Records dates of receipt in use and expiration for all reagents kits controls and standards used for assigned assays. Ensures material used is not expired prior to use.
- Pipettes using pre-set devices calibrated and approved automatic devices or fixed volume dispensers.
- Performs under direct supervision preventative maintenance PM on equipment documents PM appropriately makes minor repairs and immediately contacts appropriate personnel for problems requiring more complex repairs.
- Develops an ever-increasing understanding of laboratory medicine and the clinical significance of laboratory results.
- Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of CLIA CAP and other regulatory bodies.
- Documents all activities as necessary using good documentation practices Examples include preventative maintenance logs instrument function checks troubleshooting and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
