- Hands on technical work in support of on-going projects in various disciplines within NASA Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) under the supervision of our more senior engineers.
- Basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration, and systems engineering; opportunities can vary from performing analysis on existing flight hardware, assisting in the design and development of future hardware, performing analysis for both completed and future launches.
- Activities can include but are not limited to: data analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, software improvement projects, trade studies, design for manufacturer studies, creating or modifying tool designs, processing cause and corrective actions for non-conformances, maintain production work instructions, supplier management, and component or integrated systems tests.
- Will support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering.
- Perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the NASA/Bastion community and with fellow interns.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position requires US Citizenship.
- Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering, or a related field.
- Must have 0-3 years of recent and related work experience.
- Self-starter requiring minimal direction in completing assigned tasks within ability to excel in dynamic environment.
- Training in common engineering computer programs such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, Power Bi and Python.
- NASA related experience is a plus.
- MSFC experience is a big plus.
- This position offers a flexible work schedule, onsite or hybrid work varies based upon discipline.
- This position is part-time 20-30hrs/week.
- This position may require some travel.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
