every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position however it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform administrative functions direct day to day functions of nursing assistants ensure that all nursing personnel assigned comply with current rules regulations and guidelines manage staff staff development participate in developing planning conducting and scheduling inservice training classes implement maintain effective orientation program assist standardize methods accomplish work implement maintain infection control program monitor blood body fluids hazardous chemicals equipment supply recommend equipment supplies needs unit shift ensure adequate stock level medications medical supplies equipment etc maintained meet resident needs develop implement procedures safe operation nursing service equipment operate safe manner monitor procedures use efficient manner avoid waste appropriate msds file hazardous chemicals used department care plan assessment review daily inform supervisor changes need made care plan nurses notes reflect follow care plan administer professional services catheterization tube feedings suction applying changing dressings packs colostomy drainage bags taking blood giving massages range motion exercises etc administer restraints necessary policies procedures obtain sputum urine other specimens lab tests ordered take record tprs blood pressures etc monitor seriously ill residents check foods brought facility family visitors within dietary allowances report problem areas supervisors dietary supervisors ensure personnel providing direct care residents following resident wishes frequently check unable call help works office area throughout nursing service area drug rooms nurses stations resident rooms moves intermittently during working hours involved residents personnel visitors agencies circumstances hostile emotionally upset residents family members personnel visitors communicates medical staff nursing personal other departments directors works beyond normal working hours temporarily when necessary subject injury falls burns odors reactions dust disinfectants tobacco smoke air contaminants exposure infectious waste diseases conditions including tb aids hepatitis b viruses handling hazardous chemicals maintains liaison residents families support departments adequately plan for residents needs
