    Summary



    The primary purpose of this position is to operate gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction heavy equipment. The vehicle(s) operated by this position meet the definition of a commercial motor vehicle.

    Duties


    The major duties of the Engineering Equipment Operator position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Operate gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler type traction, such as road graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front end-end loaders, backhoes, wheel loader, trench diggers, wheel loader, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.
    • Pull a variety of large roadway trailers to haul track and wheel type equipment, haul debris, stone, gravel, soil etc., safely load and secure equipment to be hauled.
    • Operate grader, loader, dozer and dump truck to remove snow from roads and parking lots during winter months.
    • Must have the ability and experience to safely operate engineering equipment around underground utilities including high voltage powerlines and watermain transmission lines.
    • Use equipment to perform land fill maintenance, roadside brushing, etc.
    • Operate up to 14 Cubic yard straight dump trucks or truck tractor with belly or side dump trailers for the purpose of moving dirt, black top and coarse materials for roadways and shoulders, hauling riprap, barriers and logs.
