    Position Summary

    This position manages the clinical pharmacy programs as well as assumes other departmental responsibilities such as implementing new pharmacy programs, educating, and training pharmacy personnel, residents, and students. Responsible for the direct supervision of clinical pharmacy services staff to include Clinical Pharmacy Specialists, Clinical Pharmacists, Clinical Research Pharmacists, Research Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Interns. This position is also responsible for the human resource management functions of direct reports. As a leader within the pharmacy, this individual is responsible for working with other pharmacy leaders to prioritize, plan and appropriately allocate resources needed to meet key department clinical initiatives. The Clinical Pharmacy Manager reports directly to the Director of Clinical Pharmacy, Education, and Research.

    Education

  • Doctoral Degree (Pharm.D) in Pharmacy (Required)
  • Completion of a post-graduate year 1 (PGY-1) and/or PGY-2 in pediatrics pharmacy residency program accredited by ASHP or similar experience. (Preferred)
  • Experience

  • Five (5) years of operations, clinical and/or administrative pharmacy practice in an acute care setting or equivalent (Required)
  • Three years of management experience related to leading clinical and quality programs and direct reports or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Experience in formulary development and management (Preferred)
  • Experience with hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Physician Relations (Preferred)
  • Certifications

  • Current licensure or eligible as a pharmacist either by reciprocity or examination by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy (Required)
  • Current BLS or PALS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association (Preferred)
  • Special Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    Proficiency with managing employee relations effectively while advancing staff.
    Experience working in an office environment and possess organizational skills to meet deadlines.
    Self-motivated; ability to work well with interdisciplinary teams and in a matrix management environment.
    Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension at all levels.
    Ability to problem solve, think analytically and exercise independent judgment and prepare written and oral presentations.
    Experience with clinical pharmacy and intervention data and systems. (Required)
  • Experience with Pharmacy Residency Programs and precepting students.
    Exposure to clinical investigational drug research programs (Preferred)
