    Description:

    Job Summary:
    The Executive Director, Clinical Health Research Informatics is responsible for supporting organization wide healthcare research by using data science. They provide leadership to data science teams at the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, Office of Population Health Sciences and UI Health by improving centralized data processes; this includes developing a program and related processes to facilitate requests for data that support research goals. In addition, this position is responsible for developing and strengthening relationships with academic partners and bringing state of the art data science research into practice.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Research Operations & Health Informatics Leadership
    ● Develop and implement clinical research strategic goals and initiatives that support organizational success and capture health information to inform OPHS's research agenda.
    ● Provide leadership support and direction to all staff, data scientists and support for research teams.
    ● Lead the efforts in developing a relational database to inform active research studies and support grant proposals to obtain financial support for research and projects through grants and in-house funding.
    ● Collaborate with the Finance Team to ensure pre and post award research activities flow smoothly.
    ● Lead efforts to drive change in processes, tools and capabilities that increase operational efficiency and effectiveness while concurrently improving the research experience and comply with regulatory requirements.
    ● Foster a culture of accountability in support of research throughout the phases of translational health research.
    ● Oversee data science research to improve centralized data and improve quality of data submissions. Partner with other researchers and clinicians to identify potential hypothesis and research areas to improve clinical, operational and performance outcomes.
    ● Lead efforts to implement data solutions to support research cohort explorations and clinical trial feasibility.
    ● Engage with academic partners to foster collaboration and bring state of the art data science research and enterprise solutions into practice.
    ● Ensure that all legal, compliance and privacy requirements are in place and adhered to.
    ● Lead efforts to centralize all data science research, reducing duplicity and cost and while improving the ability to leverage data and findings.
    ● Collaborate with stakeholders and university leadership to define enterprise research mapping concepts to standard terminologies frequently utilized in research.
    ● This position has enterprise wide responsibility for data science research. The incumbent has decision-making authority in all matters related to data science research. Customers of this position are both internal and external, including leadership, staff, medical staff, regulatory agencies, academic institutions and the community.
    ● Represent PI and OPHS on committees related to research data and health information
    ● Implement processes that streamline reporting
    ● Continually review the latest technology available for healthcare systems and recommend updates and changes as needed to support clinical research studies, protocols while complying with University and sponsor guidelines.
    ● Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
    ● Provide all UI Health customers with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

    Supervision/Management

    ● Provides supervision for candidate selection, training, individual and team development, mentoring, performance appraisals, work assignments and disciplinary actions.
    ● Other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    ● Masters or PhD in statistics or related field.
    ● 20+ years of experience in health informatics.
    ● Extensive experience working in a research and/or academic setting.
    ● Expert-level working knowledge of principles, practices, and operations in assigned or related area of responsibility.
    ● Management level experience within a healthcare system setting or large multi-operational, complex corporate environment.
    ● Proven track record of driving successful performance outcomes and accomplishing organizational goals.
    ● Must demonstrate skills and business acumen through direct leadership experiences such as: Anticipating and responding to the needs of internal and external customers; managing a budget and financial plans; building partnerships with management, staff, and stakeholders to achieve department goals and objectives.
    ● Excellent human relations, organizational and communication skills.
    ● Demonstrating a passion about continuously improving and providing high quality care and service excellence to customers, patients, families, employees and/or physicians. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ● Knowledge of healthcare specific technologies and methods strongly preferred.
    ● Use of technologies such as Genomic Sequencing, Precision Medicine, Population Health Management (PHM), Predicting Diseases, Readmissions, imaging analytics and in/out-patient monitory and alerting also preferred.
