    The Role:

    Reporter, White House, Congressional, and federal energy policy with a focus on the power industry

    S&P Global Commodity Insights is seeking an experienced reporter to cover power policy in Congress, the White House, and key federal agencies - a particularly pivotal issue heading into the 2024 election. The successful candidate will skillfully balance beat reporting and enterprise features. The role will focus on the dynamic nature of federal energy and climate legislation, implementation of Congressional energy programs, key infrastructure permitting policy battles, and industry-influencing tax credits.

    Core job duties include:

    Coverage of Congress's approach to the evolving power policy environment.
    Coverage of the energy issues at stake in the 2024 US election.
    Detailed reporting on White House, Congress, US Department of Energy and other key executive branch actions on power policy and its interplay with the energy transition.
    Perform relevant data analyses, using in-house data to assess energy industry impacts of Congressional and other federal actions.

    Responsibilities:

    Write clear, concise, and engaging stories that inform and educate our readers that are politically balanced while not providing false equivalency.
    Cover hearings, speeches and conferences.
    Interview policymakers, executives and other key stakeholders.
    Help drive our coverage strategy around Congressional actions on power policy amid the energy transition, including Inflation Reduction Act implementation.
    Develop and use data, analysis and visuals to support your reporting and make your stories more impactful.
    Build readership throughout the industry and among regulatory, legal and other decision-makers.

    What We're Looking For:

    Basic Qualifications:

    5+ years of professional journalism experience.
    Strong writing and reporting skills, along with excellent news judgment.
    Demonstrated ability to develop and execute story ideas.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Congressional and federal agency knowledge.
    Knowledge of energy industry developments and trends.
    Demonstrated analytical and data visualization experience.
    Experience participating in panels, podcasts and other media.

    Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $68,093-136,600. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
