    Description
    Our Sioux Falls client has an immediate need for a Structural Design Engineer.

    This role will operate under the supervision of the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for devising and designing new products, adhering to Engineering best practices, related to our client and its divisions.

    There is a relocation package available for the right candidateDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESCollaborate with Sales & Marketing to identify opportunities for new product development.

    Define design objectives and ensure alignment with company goals.
    Determine appropriate design loads for structures in accordance with relevant building codes and standards.
    Utilize engineering design software like STAAD to model various product structures.
    Employ SolidWorks modeling software to create solid models and detailed drawings adhering to applicable standards.
    Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks Simulation software on various parts and assemblies.
    Coordinate with research & development labs and external shops for prototype fabrication.
    Draft and review technical documents including product installation manuals.
    Liaise with manufacturing engineering and operations to optimize product designs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

    Conduct thorough product design reviews including design for manufacture (DFM) and failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA).Collaborate with Senior Management to prioritize projects aligned with company objectives.

    Work with Purchasing and Operations Management to specify appropriate materials for designs.
    Explore new engineering technologies and materials to maintain innovation and competitiveness.
    Implement and monitor product design changes.
    Develop technical specifications, reports, cost estimates, and project timelines.
    Interface with external vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
    Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and other relevant documents.
    Analyze customer design proposals to assess feasibility and cost.
    Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
    Provide technical support to dealers and erectors during installation.
    Be willing to travel as required by the job.
    Work independently while exercising sound judgment.
    Identify opportunities for quality improvement and cost reduction.
    QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is required.
    Preferably, 5+ years of relevant work experience.
    Familiarity with International Building Code (IBC) and ASCE-07 is preferred.
    Experience in project management is advantageous.
    Results-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
    Excellent communication skills for effective project management and collaboration.
    Ability to multitask and proactively resolve issues.
    Capable of working both independently and within a team environment to achieve overarching goals.
