- Conducts psychiatric evaluations of members, prescribes and monitors medications as appropriate.
- Works in a collaborative manner with the Medical Director.
- Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings on the history, diagnostic tests; initiates referral and consultation when appropriate.
- Regulates and adjusts medications and treatments.
- Provides consultation and education to members, families, staff and community on medication actions, side effects, and proper health and nutrition habits.
- Maintains member charts and records according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Coordinates acquisition of lab tests & primary care providers, screens laboratory results, and facilitates follow-up medical treatment.
- Assists in member outreach and advocacy activities.
- Attends and participates in adult recovery and clinical team meetings.
- Develops and maintains liaison relationships with other community medical agencies.
- Assists in supervision of other nursing staff.
- Works cooperatively with adult recovery team to maximize recovery of members.
- Participates in the planning, development, and implementation of new services to underserved populations.
- Makes referrals to appropriate primary health care physician for management of acute and long-term health problems.
- Consult with Medical Director regarding clinical treatment management issues.
- Performs other related activities in accordance with agency growth and changes.
- Conducts psychiatric evaluations on new intake members within a week of their arrival.
- Follows psychiatric care of all members at Las Amigas while they are residents in the program.
- Coordinates members care with their CODAC team, their Primary Care Physician and/or OB/GYN as needed.
- Monitors and refills medications as needed for all Las Amigas members as appropriate.
- Makes regular visits weekly to Las Amigas to perform above duties.
- Review dose change requests
- Review privilege change requests
- Approval of federal exception requests
- A minimum of three (3) years experience as a Nurse Practitioner in behavioral related setting/practice.
- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing, currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Arizona.
- Valid Arizona Drivers license, proof of current insurance and willingness to use personal vehicle.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record - no more than 2 moving violations or a license suspension in past 3 years.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of various therapeutic techniques utilized in interrupting dysfunctional behavior and lifestyles.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to interact effectively in a team setting with other health and behavioral health professionals.
- Familiarity with people and practices within various ethnic and cultural groups.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills using MS Office products, Word, Excel, Access, etc., importing/exporting date to/from applications.
