    We are seeking a veterinary assistant to join our team at Nebel Street Animal Hospital We are located in Rockville, MD. We are a busy 3 doctor general practice. We have been in practice for 25 years. We have a great clientele base and great work culture. We are looking to expand our support staff. The right candidate must be friendly, outgoing and people oriented. Must be a self-motivated team player who is attentive to detail, effective at oral and written communication, and demonstrates strong technical skills.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITES (include but are not limited to):
    • Ensuring that clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
    • Assisting veterinarians to provide compassionate nursing care.
    • Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing surgical instruments and equipment.
    • Maintaining accurate medical records.
    • Filling prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explaining prescription directions.
    • Assisting receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and providing telephone support.
    • Performing various laboratory tests.
    • Keeping our facilities clean and well maintained.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    REQUIREMENTS:

    Expertise & Experience:
    • 1+ year of experience in the veterinary field is preferred. However, we are willing to train the right candidate.
    • High school diploma.
    Physical:
    • Must be able to work mornings, evenings, and the occasional Saturday.
    • Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
    • Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
    • Must be able to work on computer system and work multi-line telephone.
    • Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
    • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.
    • Must be comfortable restraining animals during medical examinations.
    REPORTS TO: Practice Manager

    PAY: $18-22 /HR
