    Job Duties

    Norfolk State University, a NCAA Division I institution, is seeking applicants for an Associate Athletics Director.

    This candidate will assist with the management of the Department of Athletics strategic initiatives, strategic partnerships, and other administrative related tasks.

    The position will report directly to the Director of Athletics.


    The Associate Athletics Director is responsible for the oversight of all strategic operations, unit budget analysis, day-to-day operations, special projects and events, and internal and external strategic partnerships.

    The position will have direct oversight over administrative personnel, interns, work study and other assigned areas.

    Duties include but not limited to the oversight and management of strategic operations, development of policies and procedures; oversight and analysis of unit budget; evaluation and analysis of athletics facilities; management of contracts, procurement of goods and services; operations liaison with internal and external departments; oversee special projects and events; oversee strategic partnerships; and sport oversight.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with NSU, Commonwealth of Virginia, NCAA and MEAC rules, regulations and policies.


    Minimum Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree
    • Minimum five years' experience in the respective categories
    • Supervisory/management experience, operations in higher education in an athletics program or conference office, budget experience and oversight in addition to sport oversight.
    • Additional experience required includes creating standard operating procedures and manuals, experience in collegiate athletics with football, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • A successful criminal background check is required.
