Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Traffic Engineer to join our transportation planning and civil engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and managing traffic systems to improve safety, efficiency, and mobility across urban and suburban environments. Your expertise will support project development from initial planning through construction, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while leveraging advanced engineering tools. Duties
- Develop comprehensive traffic system designs utilizing AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and other CAD software to create detailed plans for roadway layouts, signal timing, and intersection improvements
- Conduct transportation planning analyses using GIS platforms such as ArcGIS and System design tools to evaluate traffic flow patterns, congestion points, and safety concerns
- Data Entry for Construction Projects to track, monitor, report, and ensure compliance
- Manage project schedules by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely delivery of design phases and construction milestones
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and construction management plans with clarity and precision through effective technical writing
- Oversee construction activities by collaborating with contractors and project managers to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards
- Utilize project management software to track progress, budgets, and resource allocation throughout project lifecycles
- Support system design efforts by integrating civil engineering principles into transportation projects, including traffic signal systems, roadway geometry, and pedestrian facilities
Skills
- Proficiency in project scheduling tools and techniques for efficient workflow management
- Strong experience with Bluebeam for document review, markup, and collaboration on construction drawings
- Expertise in construction management practices within transportation projects
- Advanced knowledge of GIS applications such as ArcGIS for spatial analysis and data visualization
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Civil Engineering CAD platforms for detailed design work
- Familiarity with transportation planning processes and system design methodologies
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and reports through effective technical writing skills
- Experience in project engineering roles within civil or transportation engineering environments
- Knowledge of traffic system components including signal timing, signage, pavement markings, and safety features
