Because of this, it is our desire to strengthen the leadership and long-term vision of Grace Kids by calling a full-time director to continue to shepherd this area of ministry. Our desire is not simply to fill a position or manage programs. We are seeking a leader who will help us continue building a ministry that partners closely with parents, equips volunteers to serve joyfully and effectively, and helps children develop a growing, personal faith in Jesus Christ. We believe kid's ministry is not only about Sunday mornings or weekly programs, but about discipling and laying a foundation that shapes lives for years to come.

The Grace Kids Director will serve in a lead role that focuses on vision, development of leaders, and spiritual leadership where biblical appropriate, as much as on coordination and administration. Our current team of volunteers and ministry leaders is strong and faithful, and we want to invest in their continued growth through shepherding, training, and clear systems that make ministry sustainable and effective.

Grace Kids Director – Full Time

The following should be viewed as a basic definition of the responsibilities of the Grace Kids Director at Grace Community Church. Specifics will be determined by the individual's gifts, passions, and ministry experience.

Role Summary

The Grace Kids Director provides spiritual leadership, vision, and systems oversight for all Grace Kids' ministries, with a primary focus on equipping families for discipleship, developing adult leaders, building sustainable volunteer pathways, and progressing ministry that is effective, scalable, and grace-filled. 

Job Description

a. Work with the Grace Kids Council to provide shepherding, vision, leadership, and coordination for the Grace Kids Ministry. Organize and lead Grace Kids Council meetings. 

b. Provide shepherding, vision, and leadership development -ensuring regular training and encouragement- to the Grace kids team leaders.  (Annual Team Build and Appreciation Meal)(Awana Commander, Children's SS Directors, Nursery Coordinator, Summer Quest Director/Assistants, and other future children's ministry leaders).

c. Develop a prayer base for children's ministry, including a personal commitment to

pray for each ministry leader, knowing their needs, and supporting their personal

walk with Christ.

d. Coordinate, with the Grace Kids council, all Grace Kids events and ensure

communication with Grace Kids team leaders, volunteers, and the church family.

e. Evaluate and improve ministry systems (databases, scheduling, communication tools). Simplifying processes for volunteers and families. Collaborating with church staff to ensure tools serve ministry, not burden it.

f. Administrative duties will include: supervising security checks for all volunteers,

evaluating and creating the annual budget for the kids' ministry, ordering

curriculum and supplies as needed for classrooms, creating policies for the

children's ministry, participating in the professional development of the Grace

Kids Assistant(s), developing an emergency plan, and modifying the job description as

Necessary.

g. Communicate regularly with the appointed Elder Representative.

h. Perform other staff duties as needed, including but not limited to staff meetings,

staff retreats, attending Council Chair meetings, and writing staff journals.

Working Relationships

● You will be directly responsible to a designated Pastor.

● You will oversee the Nursery Director through regular touchpoints and a yearly

review process.

● You will be invited to Staff meetings to communicate matters of the children's

ministry to Pastors.

● Any conflicts between staff members that may arise will be handled directly 

between the individuals involved. If not easily resolved, the chairman of the

Elders and, eventually, the Elder Board may become involved. We desire to

model Biblical relationships on the staff level.

Employment Details

● Full-time – 40+ hours a week (Staff meetings and Sunday mornings required,

extra hours required during the summer for Grace Kids events)

● Wages – Based on experience.

● These provisions will be subject, if necessary, to mutual annual review.

● It is understood that either you or the church may terminate your ministry by

giving a 2-week written notice unless otherwise specified by mutual agreement.
