Sequoias is seeking a qualified, equity‑minded candidate to fill a full‑time, tenure‑track position in the Emergency Medical Services (EMT) Department beginning August 2026. This position is located on the Hanford Campus with the Police and Fire Programs. Assignments may include evening classes and teaching at any of the Sequoias campuses: Visalia, Hanford, and/or Tulare. Participation in district governance through committee assignments is encouraged.

Job Duties

• Participate in planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of EMS educational program offerings.
• Prepare and deliver instruction for the EMT program on‑site or off‑site; supervise course participants during instructional time.
• Fulfill EMS program administrative requirements, including grade calculations, record maintenance, and data reporting.
• Engage in continuing professional development activities.
• Promote the EMS programs through student recruiting and marketing events.
• Lead, guide, and train staff/student employees; recruit assistant staff as appropriate.
• Remain current in subject matter and instructional techniques through professional development in multimedia, learning communities, and new technologies.
• Responsible for curriculum development, course coordination, and instruction.
• Perform miscellaneous program director–assigned duties.

• Integrate new technologies, including interactive tools for on‑campus and online courses.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree AND six (6) years of experience in an allied health field
• Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of experience in an allied health field
• Physician, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, Paramedic, certified EMT, or licensed in California.
• Qualified in instruction methods with at least forty (40) hours of teaching methodology documented.
• Knowledge of U.S. DOT National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards.
• Instructional method coursework such as:
  • California State Fire Marshal Training Instructor 1A, 1B, and 1C, or Instructor 1.
  • National Fire Academy Fire Service Instructional Methodology.
  • U.S. DOT/NHTSA 2002 Emergency Medicine Instructor Course or NAEMSE Level 1/2 Instructor Course.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds pursuant to Title 5 §53022.
• Equivalency acceptable if educational minimums are not met; submit equivalency documents by recruitment deadline.

Desirable Qualifications

• Teaching experience with ethnically and culturally diverse students.
• Clinical teaching experience in out‑of‑hospital EMS topics.
• Commitment to developing and updating instructional activities, syllabi, and program materials.
• Ability to use varied teaching strategies and assessment methods that challenge diverse students.
• Incorporate student learning outcomes objectives and develop stated objectives and measures.
