Job Summary Ellis Home & Garden on Airline Dr. in Bossier City is now accepting applications for Cashiers, Sales Associate and Greenhouse Associate positions. These positions will help operate our store on a day-to-day basis. Ellis Home & Garden is a family-owned and operated business that offers flexible scheduling, a family-oriented atmosphere, and a great working environment.
Responsibilities and Duties Cashiers will be the face of the company and usually the first person that our customers see when they come to our store. Cashiers are responsible for greeting customers, processing transactions accurately, answering phone calls, and any other assigned duties. The Sales Associate will be responsible for helping customers on our sales floor, stocking & pricing merchandise, along with other assigned duties. The Greenhouse Associate will be responsible for tending to our plants and flowers inside the Greenhouse. Experience working with plants and Greenhouse knowledge is preferred; other duties include unloading delivery trucks, helping customers with purchases, cleaning, stocking and any other assigned duties.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Some college preferred
- Lifting 50+/- pounds repeatedly (Greenhouse positions)
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions periodically
- Computer proficiency required
- Retail point of sale experience preferred
- Cash handling experience (Cashier position)
- Plant knowledge preferred, but not required (we will train you)
- Must be available Nights & Weekends
- Must be 18 years of age

Compensation: $10.00 per hour

Ellis is a family owned and operated company dating back to the late 1800's with its original roots in pottery manufacturing in Marshall, Texas. However, now a days things have changed quite dramatically with Ellis extending its product reach into all different aspects of Home Decor and Gardening. Ellis Home and Garden has been in business over 44 years beginning in Bossier City, La and eventually expanding into East Texas with a total of five retail locations and two seasonal stores.
Ellis has one of the most impressive greenhouse operations around, showing all types of products, from tropical plants out of California to annuals and shrubs grown locally.
Ellis prides their stores on not only having a unique product selection, but also showing its customers how to best use this product with intricate displays throughout the entire store.
