    Description

    Job Overview: As an Electrical Controls Design Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of electrical control systems for various industrial applications. You will work to create detailed electrical schematics, layout drawings, and wiring diagrams, ensuring the proper functioning and integration of control components. This role is on site with little to no travel required.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Electrical Design and Drafting:
    • Develop detailed electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.
    • Interpret technical specifications and requirements to create accurate and compliant electrical designs.
    • Collaborate to review design concepts and provide input for system optimization.
    1. Component Selection and Procurement:
    • Assist in selecting appropriate electrical components, including sensors, actuators, relays, and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) hardware.
    • Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and coordinate the procurement of electrical parts and materials.
    • Verify component compatibility and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
    1. Control System Integration:
    • Support the integration of electrical control systems into machinery and equipment.
    • Work to ensure proper coordination and alignment of control components with mechanical and software systems.
    • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving integration issues during system commissioning and testing phases.
    1. Testing and Validation:
    • Conduct functional testing and validation of electrical control systems to verify proper operation and adherence to design requirements.
    • Document test procedures, results, and any deviations encountered during testing.
    1. Documentation and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of electrical designs, including revision control and version management.
    • Prepare technical documentation, manuals, and user guides for control systems and associated components.
    • Provide training and support to maintenance technicians and operators on the use and troubleshooting of electrical control systems.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate degree or technical certification in electrical engineering technology, electronics, or equivalent years of direct work experience.
    • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design and drafting.
    • Experience with electrical control systems, including PLCs, motor controls, and industrial sensors.
    • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL) related to industrial control panel design and installation.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, bending, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
