    Department: Community Development
    Division: Building Inspection
    Pay Ranges:
    • Building Inspector 2: $62,110 - $74,532 (DOE)
    • Building Inspector 3: $69,833 - $83,800 (DOE)
    Requirements: ICC 4-way certified in Residential and Commercial
    Overview:

    Conducts inspections on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

    Supervision: Reports to Chief Building Official
    Essential Duties:
    • Assist contractors and homeowners on code requirements
    • Participate in policy development related to building codes
    • Conduct inspections to verify compliance with approved plans
    • Investigate code violations
    • Maintain inspection records
    • Review building plans for code compliance
    Qualifications:

    Education and Experience: High school graduate with specialized training in building methods and 3 years of relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Familiarity with construction methods, codes, and standards; basic engineering knowledge; effective communication skills; ability to interpret codes accurately

    Special Requirements:
    • Valid Utah Driver's license
    • ICC 4-way certification in building field
    Work Environment:

    Requires physical activities like walking, standing, bending, etc. Effective communication and sound judgment are vital.
