    Position Summary:

    Employee will initiate and oversee planning, developing, and organizing all phases of resident activities through completion within program guidelines. Assignments to subordinates will be in writing with verbal guidance provided as needed. Instructions will be compliant will facility policies and procedures, and with federal and state regulations. The Activity Therapist Supervisor will develop and utilize procedures and methods to ensure departmental success and the potential for the residents' highest level of well-being. Supervision to subordinates will be through staff observations of interaction and delivery of the scheduled activities, discussions, and reviews of the resident's electronic health record.

    Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

    Conduct and/or interpret activity assessments; confers with staff to discuss matters of group or individual activity or socialization plans; assist with establishing treatment goals; conducting individual therapeutic activities. Assist in the development and implementation of activities designed to facilitate positive behavioral changes and social skills, and to assist individuals in developing acceptable quality of life. Acceptable quality of life activities will be developed to promote each residents interest, physical abilities, mental abilities and psychosocial well-being.

    Reviews written progress notes on residents. Ensures adequate and appropriate documentation is maintained for each resident such as, attendance and participation. The electronic health record is maintained for all activity programs. Evaluates, monitors, set goals, and individual participation and progress; makes recommendations for individual therapeutic plans which may consist of, but not limited to the following modalities: arts and crafts, music, recreation, horticulture, work, occupational or leisure time activities. Assists in planning new activity projects for treatment programs and contributes to the development of the residents care plans.

    Recruits and interviews staff and volunteers. Assigns, trains and directs staff and volunteer workers in specific activity programs. Demonstrates the principles and techniques of the activity by assisting in the development and presentation of the specialized activity. Participates in team meetings. Manages activity staff and volunteer schedules. Evaluates the work of staff and/or volunteers and provides feedback for areas of improvement. Coordinates and carries out special events; meets with community resources to promote cooperation and acceptance of activities.

    Supervises plans and coordinates an activity program; assist in establishing and implementing procedures for the care and maintenance of equipment and supplies; requisitions supplies and equipment; works within budgetary requirements and monitors expenditures. Maintains quality control of products; monitors and maintains supplies and equipment; maintains inventory records; completes purchase requests and work orders; assists in budget planning.

    Assist in the development and implementation of Activity Department Procedures. Procedures will be based on State and Federal regulations governing activities and Quality of Life.

    Drives van or bus to transport residents to activities. Conducts other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director. Will work as assigned to regular certified Nurse Aide (CNA) duties in an assigned unit, filling in as needed on a shift to be assigned by the supervisor.

    Current Kansas Certified Nurse Aid Certificate at time of hire pursuant to K. A. R Activities Directors License must be obtained at the time of employment and maintained through the Kansas Department of Health and environment (KDHE).
