Our Non-Profit is seeking an EXPERIENCED, compassionate, dedicated and reliable animal care technician who is experienced in caring for cats and birds with medical needs. Caring for our animals and keeping them safe, clean, happy and healthy is a priority at our sanctuary located in the Disney area. Our animals will be with us for the duration of their lives and we are seeking someone who will bond with them and enrich their daily life. Due to the fact that many of our animals have health issues that would deem them not adoptable, we are looking for team members who are as dedicated to their care and well being as we are. Some of our residents require daily grooming, others need daily medications or blood glucose checks. Keeping their environment clean is of the utmost importance, so our perfect candidate will not mind cleaning up after cats and birds. If you have experience in feline and avian care, we want to speak with you Prefer someone who lives in close proximity to the Celebration/Disney area (20 minutes or less) and has experience with administering all types of meds. This is a part-time position working Fri, Sat, Sun evenings and possibly other evenings if more hours are desired. (Averaging 10-15 hours per week) Due to the nature of our work, holidays required (4 hrs max). More hours may become available if desired. This is a long term, part-time position that offers competitive pay and a great working atmosphere. Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and play time.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal housing areas.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to Manager.
- Maintain accurate daily record of animal care and treatment protocols.
Qualifications
- Previous kennel experience or equivalent animal care background is preferred.
- Experience as a veterinary assistant is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology is a plus.
- Proficiency in medication administration, checking BG, and giving fluids SQ.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting team members.
