    Description

    Position Summary:


    Primarily responsible for supervising accounting staff, coordinating/reviewing monthly financial statements through Staff Accountants, and assisting Community Managers and Community Association Board Members with accounting concerns.

    Assists the VP of Financial Management and Executive Management Team with special projects.


    Position Responsibilities:
    Partners with Accounting Leadership Team to establish, implement and execute procedures that ensure effective accounting practices.
    Oversees accounting staff to ensure industry accounting standards are met.
    Supervises accounting staff which consists of Assistant Controllers, Accounting Managers, Senior Accountants, and Staff Accountants.
    Ensures allocation of AAMs monthly financials is prepared in an accurate and timely manner through the Staff Accountants.
    Completes monthly review of 150+ financial statements by contracted deadlines.
    Facilitates and ensures completion of yearly
    CPAengagements for tax and reporting.
    Provides accounting-related guidance and support for community managers, association Board members, and association committees.
    Attends community Board or Finance Committee meetings as needed.
    Coordinates accounting onboarding of new communities enter financial statement balance forwards, and assists with existing communities.
    Establishes bank accounts, CDs, or investment accounts as requested by clients.
    Responsible for staff monitoring of FDIC coverage.
    Assists with developer client special projects.
    Assists in accounting department strategic planning.
    Strategically assigns and monitors portfolio workloads for the Staff Accounting department.
    Partners with IT Department to develop financial reporting tools for external and internal users.
    Completes annual performance reviews and establishes incentive goals for eligible employees.
    Participates in proposals and presentations to current or potential clients.
    Conducts staff meetings and training meetings for community managers.
    Performs other related duties as directed.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, establish priorities, meet deadlines and oversee accounting staff.
    Comfortable with public speaking and conducting accounting presentations.
    Strong attention to detail.
    Ability to work extended hours including evenings or weekends as necessary.
    Ability to function and contribute in a team-oriented atmosphere.
    Exceptional organization and tracking skills.
    Ability to function efficiently in a high volume and fast-paced environment.
    Ability to proficiently utilize computer programs and accounting systems, including Microsoft Office, internet, and e-mail systems.
    Ability to interact, collaborate and work effectively with all departments or levels of the organization.
    Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
    Excel knowledge at intermediate level.

    Physical Demands &

    Work Environment:
    Sitting at a workstation in an office setting utilizing the computer.
    Occasional attendance at evening meetings and out-of-town travel may be required.
    Office and remote working options are available.

    Experience
    Required

    3 year(s): Three (3) + years of experience in a leadership role within accounting and a demonstrated ability to lead people and obtain results through others.

    Education
    Required
    Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field
    Licenses & Certifications
    Preferred
