- The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will create and enforce a culture of safety within the organization by implementing programs, policies, and assessments to ensure SSP complies with all federal and internal health and safety rules.
- Establish and monitor internal and external customer satisfaction metrics, driving programs for system upgrades and improvement.
- Coordinate safety program for the facility, including compliance with governmental regulations
- Evaluate, assess, and alter safety procedures and policies
- Risk Management, including oversite of reserve process
- Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts
- Investigate all incidents, oversee five why process, corrective action, and problem-solving
- Track incident metrics and apply findings
- Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees
- Research environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance
- Oversee the applications for and receipt of necessary permits
- Lead injury and incident inquiries and evaluations
- Manage the ergonomics program and coordinate EHS-related activities in the Continuous Improvement Workshops.
- Conduct inspections of the workplace for safety issues and concerns.
- Review all new equipment and processes for regulatory compliance
- Maintain files and records
- 2-3 years of EHS-related experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- Heavy manufacturing environment preferred
- Bachelor's Degree (Industrial/ Occupational Safety & Health or Environmental Engineering) - OR - Associate's degree and 4+ years previous EHS experience in lieu of degree.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule across three-shift operation
- Experience with SC Worker's Compensation Law
- Ability to train, influence, and motivate team members
