    Job Description

    Primary Objectives

    • The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will create and enforce a culture of safety within the organization by implementing programs, policies, and assessments to ensure SSP complies with all federal and internal health and safety rules.

    Specific Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned and changed as needed)


    • Establish and monitor internal and external customer satisfaction metrics, driving programs for system upgrades and improvement.
    • Coordinate safety program for the facility, including compliance with governmental regulations
    • Evaluate, assess, and alter safety procedures and policies
    • Risk Management, including oversite of reserve process
    • Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts
    • Investigate all incidents, oversee five why process, corrective action, and problem-solving
    • Track incident metrics and apply findings
    • Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees
    • Research environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance
    • Oversee the applications for and receipt of necessary permits
    • Lead injury and incident inquiries and evaluations
    • Manage the ergonomics program and coordinate EHS-related activities in the Continuous Improvement Workshops.
    • Conduct inspections of the workplace for safety issues and concerns.
    • Review all new equipment and processes for regulatory compliance
    • Maintain files and records

    Qualifications

    Requirements

    • 2-3 years of EHS-related experience in a Manufacturing environment.
    • Heavy manufacturing environment preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree (Industrial/ Occupational Safety & Health or Environmental Engineering) - OR - Associate's degree and 4+ years previous EHS experience in lieu of degree.
    • Willing to work a flexible schedule across three-shift operation
    • Experience with SC Worker's Compensation Law
    • Ability to train, influence, and motivate team members
