    Technicians are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by documenting patient information into the Electronic Health Record as well as taking ocular measurements and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.

    Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities

    • Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems
    • Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, pachymetry and more
    • Performing tests aimed at diagnosing ocular ailments, disorders, and other problems
    • Assists with in-office procedures and injections ensuring proper informed consent is obtained
    • Assists with patient education.
    • Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination
    • Assist with stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room or office and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned
    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Two years of previous experience as an optometric technician is required
    • Strong organization with attention to detail
    • Must have the ability to establish confidence and trust with patients
    • Must have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
    • Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate excellent communication, telephone and grammar skills
    • Must have an empathetic and compassionate manner
    • Ability to perform as part of a team as well as work independently
    • Demonstrated computer literacy
