    00 HourlyDescriptionQuality Engineer Intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to quality requirements, analysis, testing, integration, and systems engineering.

    The Engineering Intern typically supports one or more experienced Quality Engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of Engineering.


    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    Actively promote and drive a culture of safety.
    Ensure operational processes and quality requirements meet customer expectations and company goals.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Understand applicable quality principles including, but not limited to, statistics, sampling management, specification review, metrology, quality planning techniques, and closed loop corrective action.

    Support Quality Department by developing and maintaining SPG quality procedures and processes with direct involvement in the Material Review Board (MRB), Corrective Action, Continuous Improvement, and Change Control processes.

    Identify customer quality requirements and develop inspection methods and plans to support their achievement.
    Understand applicable Spectrum Plastic Group Standard Operating Procedures.
    Understand the quality requirements of SPG's customers. Clarify customer requirements when necessary.
    When appropriate, analyze inspection data for evidence that manufacturing and inspection processes are functioning properly. Initiate corrective/preventive action when necessary.
    Process incoming, in-process, finished, and customer returned discrepant material according to the Discrepant Material Report, and corrective action procedures. Support the problem resolution process by acting as resource for quality problem solving methodology.
    Respond with documented closed loop corrective action to internal and external quality problems when appropriate.
    Read, analyze, and interpret component specifications/drawings, quality manuals, technical procedures, and medical device regulations as appropriate.
    Define problems, perform root cause analysis, choose and implement solutions, and test their effectiveness.
    Support continuous improvement efforts including 5S.Other duties as assigned.


    EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
    Enrollment in an Engineering program. Demonstrate a working knowledge of mechanical inspection equipment. Ability to use mainframe terminal and personal computer as they relate to the required tasks.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
