    Description

    Our client, an industry leading company is seeking a Microbiologist to assist with day to day testing. Their product line represents the world's biggest range of additives, offering a choice on both metal-based and metal-free chemistries.

    Microbiologist position that involves sample preparation, media preparation, environmental monitoring, and quality control documentation. The Microbiologist I will provide support for conducting standard and modified microbiological test, fungal tests, and exploratory microbiological studies by other tenured microbiologists.

     Conduct sample preparation in the lab for both quantitative and qualitative testing.

     Conduct media, apparatus, and equipment preparation to support sample testing.

     Conduct environmental monitoring and quality control documentation.

     Perform qualitative bacterial testing according to standard and modified protocols and report test results.

     Support conduct of standard and modified quantitative tests and fungal testing by other microbiologists.

     Conduct exploratory microbiological studies under direction of a tenured microbiologist.

     Analyze data and report results.

     Suggest, validate and implement improvements/modification to existing processes.

     Identify problems with methodology, products and materials, and report them for corrective action.

     Maintenance of equipment, instrumentation, cultures, and media related to daily product evaluation. Ensure equipment is up to date on calibrations.

     Maintain record logs for chemicals and other inventory as directed.

     Ensure proper training of newly hired employees in qualitative bacterial testing protocols.

    Must be able to operate standard microbiology lab equipment (e.g. microscope, pipette, balance); independently identify (to the extent of authorization) practical and reasonable solutions in situations where only limited standardization exists; conduct and report results of qualitative tests; support quantitative and fungal testing; and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    EDUCATION

    Prefer a Bachelor's degree, will take an Associate's degree (A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
