- Provide specialized educational instruction to students who are deaf and hard of hearing, fostering their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, ensuring access to the curriculum and promoting their educational growth.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment and facilitate successful communication strategies.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, resources, and assistive technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary to address challenges and promote achievement.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages communication, independence, and self-advocacy among students.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Valid teaching license or certification in Deaf Education or Special Education in California
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication modalities.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, particularly within the specified age groups.
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and their implementation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Patient, empathetic, and passionate about fostering an inclusive learning environment.
