- Serve as a cooperative member of the custodial team
- Know and observe good safety procedures; maintain safe working conditions; comply with safety rules and regulations
- Maintain appropriate physical condition and health status necessary to perform duties and responsibilities as assigned

- Sweep, mop, and scrub floors; dust; empty and clean waste receptacles; wash windows and walls; move and arrange furniture and equipment
- Clean and sanitize rest rooms, dressing rooms, shower rooms, drinking fountains, kitchens and otherwise maintain overall sanitary conditions of facility; replenish rest room and custodial cart supplies
- Operate power cleaning equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned by lead custodian and/or administrator
- Perform lawn, shrubbery, parking lot, sidewalk, and associated exterior duties as assigned
- Maintain adequate supplies and materials needed for proper building function by communicating inventory requests to lead custodian
- Maintain security of buildings, turn out lights, lock doors and windows; maintain awareness of unauthorized person(s) on or about premises
- Report any safety, sanitary or fire hazard
- Assist with special events held at the building as time permits
- Maintain records, completing and submitting reports as required
- Operate keyless entrance, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, bell, clocks and intercoms
- Perform minor maintenance and repair including, but not limited to, minor electrical repairs including changing ballasts, switches, etc.; minor plumbing repairs such as flush valves, gaskets, etc.; minor repair of wall board, ceiling tile, touch up painting, etc.
- Operate and maintain district equipment as required; insure their safe and proper use; protect the interest of the district regarding pilferage, loss, theft or abuse of all district facilities and equipment
- Strip and wax floors; apply finish coats to gymnasium floor as needed
- Wash and polish furniture
- Rearrange furniture in classrooms
- Demonstrated basic knowledge and skills of custodial work including facility maintenance and repair activities and willing to be tested thereon
- Punctual and dependable, able to work well with others, maintain good health, have ability to perform heavy physical labor, able to lift 100 pounds occasionally and able to work effectively in tight quarters and at heights, from lifts and ladders
- Class IV Boiler License, certificate of completion or willingness to obtain one, if applicable
- Building Operator Certification or willingness to obtain, if applicable
- Maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License.
