- Design and support new automation solutions for process improvements or new equipment.
- Manage and support plantwide Building Management System (BMS), Environmental Monitoring System (EMS), and network infrastructure for automation information.
- Generate, execute, and review Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualification protocols.
- Produce and review design drawings and specification documents (URS, FS, DS, etc.).
- Troubleshoot automation and critical process equipment or systems.
- Assess discrepant events and changes for automation impact, deliver automation solutions to resolve operational issues.
- Assist in troubleshooting and providing real time on floor support of manufacturing operations.
- Automation lead for equipment/software FAT, field testing and commissioning.
- Lead small to medium capital projects.
- Lead technical cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting on process control issues related to electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
- Ownership of electronic automation change control process and validation packages.
- Leadership role on tech transfer projects or company initiatives.
- Manage contractor staff, track project deliverables, and provide status updates to project team.
- Lead assessments and remediation of Data Integrity requirements for automated equipment.
- Partner with IT department to manage and support laboratory benchtop and production equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Science, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical is preferred or related field, or applicable experience at a leadership level.
- Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field of engineering and controls.
- General knowledge of biotechnology manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience with leading and executing capital projects for biotechnology manufacturing.
- Knowledge of process, utility and building control systems
- Knowledge of GMP guidelines, experience in generation of controlled documents
- Qualification experience related to control and computer systems.
- Knowledge of computer aided manufacturing automation
- Good organizational and time utilization skills
- Proficient in computer skills and MS Office applications
- Willing and able to be on call 24/
- Technical writing ability to author SOPs, specifications, investigations, and test protocols.

Role Description:
The
Senior Automation Engineer - Manufacturing Automation
must have at least 7+ years of experience.
In this role, you will work with manufacturing, quality, validation, and other Facilities & Engineering groups to define, commission, validate, and support the facility's automation systems.
You will support ongoing biological processes and technology development projects in the manufacturing plant by maintaining and improving automation systems and introducing new technology.
As the Automation Engineer, you will assume project management as well as technical contributor roles for department and small-cap projects, as well as function-team leadership roles in projects and initiatives.
