    The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and legally compliant QA/QC analytical laboratory, maintaining the day to day operations in the laboratory units engaged in performing chemical and physical analyses and tests required for development and quality control of products, and collaborating with the R&D group in commissioning new lab procedures and providing analytical support to the R&D initiatives.

    The Laboratory Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe and legally compliant QA/QC analytical laboratory, maintaining the day to day operations in the laboratory units engaged in performing chemical and physical analyses and tests required for development and quality control of products, and collaborating with the R&D group in commissioning new lab procedures and providing analytical support to the R&D initiatives

    RESPONSIBILITES:
    Continually work to improve the safety and legal compliance of the QA/QC analytical laboratory.
    Establish goals, and schedule and coordinate laboratory administration, including purchasing and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies. 15%Ensure that all activities are in compliance with organization goals and applicable regulations.
    Prepare laboratory activity reports and make recommendations to improve consistent and efficient laboratory operations. 5%Work within established budgetary guidelines.
    Participate in laboratory standardization and quality improvement initiatives with all other Catalyst labs. 5%Develop, train and mentor laboratory staff. 15%Oversee the quality of the products made throughout the plant. 20%Maintain laboratory schedule and manage shift changes. 5%Participate in performance evaluations; schedule and approve overtime; take disciplinary action as necessary. 10%Perform quality checks on lab personnel. 5%Create and send Certificates of Analysis for all orders. 10%Advise on instrument and procedure improvements.
    Commission new instruments as needed. 5%Collaborate with R&D on new product initiatives. 5%Other duties as assigned.


    REQUIREMENTS:
    Education & ExperienceBachelors degree in chemistry or a physical science preferred.
    A minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training required. 2 years management experience required.
    Experience with QC methods in the laboratory and in the handling of hazardous substances.
    Preferred- experience in XRF, TGA, and ICPSAP experience preferred.
    LIMS experience preferredLanguage/Math/Reasoning AbilityAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    A command and working knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    Ability to apply the scientific method; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer SkillsIntermediate personal computer skills including record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
