The VP of Communications will lead all internal and external communications efforts, oversee media relations, and act as a spokesperson for the organization.

This is not purely a management position.

UATX has a lean communications staff, meaning that you will be in the trenches, whether updating the website, creating social media reels, or organizing logistics with videographers.

    Duties

    Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement an integrated communications strategy that supports organizational goals, both short-term and long-term.

    Media Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and education-specific media. Occasionally act as the primary spokesperson for the organization.

    Internal Communications:
Manage and streamline internal communications to ensure that staff are aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.

    Content Development:
Oversee the creation of compelling content across various channels including websites, press releases, social media, and internal communications. This includes planning and logistics (e.g., working directly with contracted videographers).

    Public Relations:
Manage crisis communications and public relations issues, offering immediate and accurate information.

    Stakeholder Engagement:
Develop and implement communication strategies to engage key stakeholders including students, faculty, donors, senior leadership, and UATX board members.

    Budget Management:
Manage the communications budget, ensuring effective use of resources.

    Team Leadership:
Oversee a small, lean team; provide coaching, direction, and performance assessments.
    Preferred Qualifications

Media savvy, with the ability to create and lead constructive relationships; experience with influential personalities (such as UATX's advisors) is preferred.

Deep knowledge of and experience with running successful, national, multi-platform, media and marketing campaigns.
Senior-level experience successfully building and managing a team.
Ability to adapt, be nimble and creative, and to thrive in fast-growing organization.
Demonstrated experience steering an organizational brand and identity.
Experience with a broad range of media—print, broadcast, and digital.
Exceptional writing, oral communications, and editing skills.
High degree of technical savvy, from web edits to social media reels.
