    General Description:
    The Behavioral Health Counselor will use a person-centered approach to work with individuals facing complex behavioral health needs. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, crisis intervention, referrals, providing short-term counseling, and offering consultation to staff on individual scenarios.

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct initial assessments and provide short-term counseling.
    • Develop cooperative relationships with community partners.
    • Utilize therapeutic techniques such as CBT and psychodynamic therapy.
    • Participate in outreach education and maintain case documentation.
    • Review referrals, maintain consumer caseload, and make appropriate referrals.
    • Participate in team meetings to enhance outreach effectiveness.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master's degree in social work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field.
    • Licensed as LICSW, LCSW, or LMHC.
    • Knowledge of aging process, community resources, and intervention techniques.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to adhere to regulations and communicate effectively.
    • Ability to conduct assessments, cope with stress, and handle confidential data.
    • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, multiple priorities, and deadlines.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, valid driver's license, and insured vehicle.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • PHYSICAL: Visual, speaking, auditory, and mobile capacity necessary.
    • Capacity to see, hear, speak, and drive; fine manipulation; navigate terrain; climb stairs; sit or stand for extended periods; occasional reaching, grabbing, bending, squatting, twisting, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • MENTAL: Ability to understand instructions, learn software, remain calm with varying personalities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • ENVIRONMENT: Work indoors and outdoors, tolerate odors, pollutants, office machine by-products, heat, cold, and seasonal changes.
