    Job Summary

    Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Guest Service Lead position includes the following duties:
    • Responsible for the daily operations of the front desks at our outdoor facilities.
    • Works with leadership to ensure sites meet Franklin County Health Code standards.
    • The pools are open mid-May through Labor Day weekend. Guest Service Lead staff are expected to be available throughout the entire season unless otherwise noted at hiring.
    Starting Salary Range: The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Candidates will start at the minimum of the range ($15.75 per hour) unless their skills, experience, education, or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position.

    The City of Gahanna has implemented two bonus programs for seasonal staff
    • Referral Bonus
      • Any applicant can refer up to 4 candidates ($50* per candidate). Rehires are not eligible to be referred but are encouraged to refer other candidates. When completing the online application, the applicant must include the first and last name of the person who referred them to apply. The person who referred the candidate does NOT need to be an active employee at the time of the application. (Family members are NOT eligible to be referred.)
    • Onboarding Bonus
      • All seasonal employees that are fully onboarded and ready to work by May 1st will receive a $100* bonus
      • All applicable taxes will be deducted from the bonus payments.
    Essential Job Functions
    • Assists the Pool Manager with overseeing quality customer service at our guest service windows and concession stands.
    • Ability to troubleshoot with front-line staff during operating hours.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, and the public.
    • Maintains all necessary documentation for business operations and programming.
    • Trains and assists staff on how to effectively use and maintain equipment.
    • Trains and assists staff on how to operate the front desk and adhere to policies and procedures.
    • ** Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required
    Minimum Qualifications

    Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job's essential functions. A typical way to qualify is a High School Diploma or equivalent or one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in a facility with seasonal operations.

    Licensure or Certification Requirements
    • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen certificate required.
    • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, or a nationally recognized equivalent, certificate, preferred.
    Other
    • Minimum 18 years of age

    • Maintains the facility in a clean and orderly fashion.
    • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by Pool Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, and/or Recreation Supervisor

    • Work independently, while being able to lead and supervise others and meet deadlines. Adhere to regulations, policies and procedures required by the State of Ohio, Franklin County Board of Health, the City of Gahanna and all other regulatory/governing bodies.

    Working Conditions:
    • The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
    • This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires swimming, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
    Seasonal employees are eligible to participate in the Ohio Public Employment Retirement (OPERS).
