    Some travel will be involved a few times a year.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for leading risk assessment activities, developing risk management strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

    The Senior Risk Manager will play a crucial role in identifying potential risks, evaluating their impact on projects, and implementing mitigation measures to safeguard our organization's interests.

    This position will work under the direction of KKCSs Associate Vice President / Sr. Risk Manager.

    The successful candidate will be taught the best management practices for risk management and the construction of Monte Carlo risk models.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESRisk Assessment:
    Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for AEC projects, including identifying potential hazards, vulnerabilities, and threats.
    Analyze project documentation, contracts, and stakeholder inputs to identify risks related to scope, schedule, budget, and quality.


    Risk Identification and Analysis:
    Utilize qualitative and quantitative risk analysis techniques to assess the likelihood and impact of identified risks.
    Collaborate with project teams to prioritize risks based on their severity and potential impact on project objectives.


    Risk Mitigation Planning:
    Develop risk mitigation plans tailored to specific projects, considering the nature and complexity of the risks involved.

    Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to implement proactive measures to reduce the likelihood and impact of identified risks.


    Regulatory Compliance:
    Stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to risk management in the AEC sector.
    Ensure that risk management practices align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.


    Communication and Reporting:
    Communicate risk assessment findings, mitigation strategies, and recommendations to project teams, senior management, and other stakeholders.
    Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing risk exposure, mitigation efforts, and risk management performance.


    Training and Development:
    Provide guidance and training to project teams on risk management principles, methodologies, and tools.
    Foster a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk management across the organization.


    Continuous Improvement:
    Evaluate the effectiveness of risk management processes and tools, identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements as needed.
    Proactively identify emerging risks and trends in the AEC industry, adapting risk management strategies accordingly.


    Collaboration and Relationship Management:

    Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, architects, and legal counsel, to integrate risk management into project planning and execution.

    Cultivate strong relationships with external partners, such as clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies, to facilitate effective risk management practices.
    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSRequired ExperienceMinimum of twelve (12) years of overall experience working on risk assessments.
    Five (5) of the twelve (12) years in passenger rail or related transportation modes.

    Six (6) of the twelve (12) years of experience in planning, designing, and implementing an overall risk management process for an organization.

    Required Education & CertificationBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Management, or a field very closely associated to these.

    Certification as a Risk Management Professional.

    Project Management Institute's Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering's Decision and Risk Management Professional (AACE-DRMP)Required SkillsExpert knowledge in performing probability modeling using factoring and Monte Carlo bottoms-up simulation for risk analysis related to cost and schedule values.

    Familiarity with FTAs risk assessment procedure (oversight procedure #40) and Excel model (Top-Down stochastic) is desired.
    Familiarity with Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Projects, Deltek Acumen, or other project scheduling software is desired.
