About the Role: The Director of Operations serves as the operational backbone of OpenEd, translating data into cross departmental insights and actions. You'll own financial planning, forecasting, capacity modeling, and operational efficiency across the organization, building the infrastructure (dashboards, reports) and metrics that enable us to scale. This role combines deep analytical rigor with hands-on operational leadership, ensuring every department, dollar, and resource is optimized to open doors for more learners.

Your Immediate Impact

• Build and own comprehensive capacity planning models that forecast staffing needs, enrollment projections, and resource allocation across all departments
• Design and implement operational dashboards and metrics that provide real-time visibility into business performance and unit economics
• Lead quarterly and annual financial planning cycles, including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling to support strategic decision-making
• Partner with department heads to create data-driven operational models, cadences, and visibility that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain service excellence
• Establish financial controls, reporting systems, and audit processes that ensure accuracy and compliance as we scale
• Translate complex financial and operational data into clear insights and recommendations for executive leadership and board-level reporting

Success Metrics:

• Accuracy of enrollment and revenue forecasts (within 3% variance)
• Implementation of operational KPIs and dashboards that drive measurable improvements in efficiency
• Budget adherence across departments while maintaining service quality standards
• Reduction in operational costs through capacity optimization and process improvements
• Quality and timeliness of financial reporting and board-level materials
• Successful execution of annual, quarterly, and monthly planning and budget processes
• Departmental level attainment of their objectives

Who You Are:

• Operational Excellence: 7+ years in operations, finance or revenue operations roles with demonstrated success in capacity planning, financial modeling, and operational strategy at high-growth companies
• Data Fluency: Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, HubSpot CRM/MAP, financial modeling, and data analysis tools; comfortable building complex models from scratch and extracting insights from multiple data sources
• Systems Thinker: Deep understanding of how to manage the operating model to drive  metrics that connect to financial outcomes; experience building scalable processes and infrastructure for growing organizations
• Strategic Partner: Proven ability to translate financial data into actionable business strategies and partner effectively with cross-functional leaders
• Hands-On Builder: Track record of building financial and operational systems, not just maintaining existing ones; comfortable being in the details while maintaining strategic perspective
• Education Experience: Experience in education, EdTech, or similar mission-driven organizations is strongly preferred

Team & Autonomy: This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role where you'll own the financial and operational planning function. You'll work closely with the executive and senior leadership teams, serving as the trusted partner for all capacity and planning decisions. While you'll have autonomy to design systems and approaches, you'll need to build consensus and influence across the organization. 

Reporting Line:

This role reports directly to Jared Fuller, COO.
