    J OB.TITLEWe are currently hunting for a Health and Safety Specialist to be based at our Ecoservices Baton Rouge, LA plant.1.

    Health and Safety General ResponsibilitiesFacilitate and support Health and Safety activities and initiatives for the Baton Rouge plant.

    Lead, support, promote, improve, and enforce compliance, all H&S, corporate/plant policies, procedures, performance standards and Ecovyst HSE PrinciplesMaintain employee interest, involvement, and support in all aspects of site health and safety programs.

    Follow Ecovysts Life Saving BehaviorsRecognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures.
    Prepare / Deliver / Attend monthly safety meetings.
    Assist area leadership in the completion of process safety action items.
    Be a visible presence on site to promote good health and safety practices and reduce risks.

    Active involvement in Natural Disaster and Emergency PreparednessP rovide monthly and quarterly safety reporting internally (plant site & Ecovyst) and externally as required.

    Maintain and upload the Weekly Perfect Day Events and the monthly Preventative Ratio metrics.
    Maintain and submit annual OSHA Recordkeeping Logs and records as required.2. TrainingWork with the site Training Coordinator develop training presentations for site health and safety programs, procedures, and policies.
    Conduct Safety related training as needed.
    Coordinate Emergency Response Training for the site.
    Work with Training Coordinator to maintain the HSE Training Matrix for the site.3.

    Site ProgramsAssist site with HSE Management Systems Participate in HSE Management Reviews / RC14001 AssessmentsChampion H&S elements of the site HSE Management SystemLiaison to site keeping them abreast of current H&S laws and regulations.

    Assist site with development and implementation of H&S action plans.
    Audit site safety practices and provide feedback on compliance and conformance to Ecovyst requirements.
    Assist Maintenance and Operations in developing Site-Specific Safety improvement initiatives.
    Assist Purchasing with Contractor Management Liaison with contractors about safety issues. Recommend program improvements.
    Monitor and communicate emerging trends and regulatory requirements and recommend programs to continuously improve health and safety performance.
    Maintain working relationships with regional, federal, state, and local agencies.4.

    Personnel Health and Safety ActivitiesSupports the site Health & Safety CommitteeActive involvement in turnaround safety (planning and execution)Coordinate Industrial Hygiene Monitoring and ensure proper notifications and documentation are maintained.

    Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface with various levels of Management and SupervisionParticipate in and/or lead incident investigations and issuing lessons learned bulletins.

    Participation in risk assessment audits (PHA, CTA, JSA, ECOVYST HSE Principles, etc.) as applicable5.

    Emergency ResponseCoordinate emergency response activities (ERT and EOC and Channel Industries Mutual Aid CIMA Team)Maintain technical knowledge and skills, keeping updated on the leading concepts in health and safety services and Emergency Response management.

    Be fully trained on the Incident Command System process for onsite incidents.
    Coordinate fire protection, and safety equipment inspections and testing for site.
    Lead in plant Emergency Response drills and Emergency Operations Center drills.
    Respond to site emergencies and offsite emergencies as required by CIMA.


    Requirements:
    5+ years manufacturing experience (preferred chemical industry)Minimum of 3 years experience in Health and Safety (or equivalent) is required.
    Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred.

    Transportation Workers Identification Credentials (TWIC)Knowledge of Federal and State regulations relative to Health and Safety (US-OSHA 1910 & 1926 Standards)Familiarity w th industry standards and practices (ASSE, NFPA, ANSI, FM, etc.)Effective communication/inter-personal skills able to inspire and encourage the use of best practices at plant sites, able to communicate with plant staff, management, and regulatory agencies.

    Ability to work efficiently in a multi-disciplined, cross-functional environment.
    Ability to plan/organize tasks and consistently produce results with minimal supervision.

    Ability to comprehend, analyze, and understand the legal aspects of legislation and develop compliance programs to decrease facility health and safety liabilities and reduce environmental risks.

    Works well under pressure ability to meet tight deadlines with quality results.
    Working knowledge with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office).#J-18808-Ljbffr
