    Registered Respiratory Therapist - Full Time - Bronson Methodist Hospital $5,000-$10,000 Sign on Bonus Available


    Position Details:
    We have openings in Adult Critical Care and Children's Hospital. 72 hrs/pp 12-hour Night shifts.

    Requirements

    Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy (AS), Bachelor's Degree preferred
    Current Respiratory Therapist License in the State of Michigan license required
    Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials (RRT) required
    Must obtain BLS Certification within three months of hire
    Must obtain ACLS, PALS and AAP-NRP Certifications within one year of hire

    Job Description and Responsibilities

    As a Bronson Respiratory Therapist, you will work alongside the medical team, providing patient's with respiratory therapy.

    Some of your responsibilities may include:
    Evaluate patient's breathing and blood gasses, then make ventilator recommendations to providers and nursing staff

    Check that provider orders are complete and administers therapy accordingly

    Perform all respiratory therapies in accordance with provider orders, protocols, or guidelines

    Explain therapy to the patient in understandable terms, according to age/learning capabilities
    Assess the patient's response to therapy and makes recommendations to the provider accordingly or according to protocol guidelines if appropriate
    Administer, assess and titrate oxygen therapy
    Assess patient response and modify therapy according to respiratory protocols
    Notify manager, nursing personnel and providers of any adverse patient reactions
    Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and assist with "Code Blue", as necessary
    Arrive at "Code Blue" in a timely manner. Perform appropriate life support according to BLS, ACLS, NRP and PALS guidelines
    Assist provider (if competency complete) with tracheal intubation
    Routinely maintain artificial airways (endotracheal tube and tracheostomy tubes) in accordance with department policy (i.e. suctioning and securing endotracheal tubes)
    Maintain stability of artificial airways. Assure tube security and repositions endotracheal tubes according to policy
    Is able to appropriately utilize infant and pediatric resuscitation equipment in emergency situations, including PEEP adaptions and pop-off valves

    Evaluate objective and subjective information in a logical and thorough manner. Discusses conclusions with providers and nurses to resolve patient problems promptly

    Provide assistance with patient and family education, along with other members of the healthcare team

    Perform basic pulmonary function testing, EKG's, arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2 monitoring, and transcutaneous oximetry in accordance with outlined departmental policies and procedures

    Assist with bedside bronchoscopies, intubations, and extubations in accordance with outlined departmental policies and procedures
