- Provide mental health and (if appropriate) substance use counseling for students and make referrals as appropriate for psychiatric evaluation, psychological testing/evaluation, specialized treatment, and/or long-term therapy. Crisis intervention and crisis debriefings as necessary in the event of student, staff, and/or faculty injuries and/or deaths.
- Provide outreach to students regarding mental health and substance use concerns including academic support programs, psycho-educational workshops, personal skill development groups, processing groups, consultation, harm reduction, and training programs for student leadership, faculty, and staff. Past recipients of such outreach events include collaboration with Residence Life staff, Fraternity and Sorority Life members, Athletics, etc.
- Prepare and manage client records, progress notes, reports, assessment documents, and other necessary documentation following regulations governing this discipline.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all proprietary information and ensure ethical standards are upheld in the execution of clinical services in compliance with licensure organizations (American Counseling Association, National Association of Social Workers, and NC Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board), university policies, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- This position requires periodic evening hours and weekend events (presentations to residence halls, clubs, organizations, various outreach events, and campus support).
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Uphold and abide by University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to; HIPAA, FERPA and state and federal mandates.
- Other job-related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time.
- Minimum of a master's degree in counseling, counseling, social work, or equivalent field.
- The candidate will be expected to obtain mental health licensure in NC within one year of the start date and maintain licensure for the continuation of the appointment and a substance use license if the candidate is interested in that aspect of the field.
- At least 2 years of experience providing psychotherapy, 5 years of experience is preferred.
- It is preferred that the experience be with a young adult population.
- At least 3 years of experience providing substance use counseling and assessment services and experience with co-morbid populations is preferred.
- Experience with group counseling, in higher education, and working with young adults.
- Experience in trauma treatment and certification in a trauma treatment method.
- Experience with other addictive concerns (e.g.: pornography, gambling, shopping, and so on).
- Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments and crisis intervention.
- Ability to see a high volume of clients with well-developed clinical skills and experience utilizing evidence-based interventions for the treatment of mental health conditions.
- Knowledge of ethics and licensure laws and commitment to abide by those regulations.
- Experience working with substance-related and addictive disorders is preferred.
- Demonstrated competence in group counseling, time-limited individual psychotherapy with diverse populations, and working with mandated client populations is preferred.
- Demonstrated competence in outreach/prevention programming and implementation preferred.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm as a team player with other University staff/faculty.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and well-developed public speaking skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent computer skills, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Understanding of, and willingness to support, the Campbell University Mission.
