    My client are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead their primate breeding and research facility. As a COO with expertise in managing animal testing facilities, particularly those focused on primates, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all operational aspects of the facility. This position requires a blend of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and a strong commitment to ethical research practices.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the facility's operations.
    • Oversee day-to-day operations, working with other department leaders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and safety protocols.
    • Streamline processes and procedures to enhance productivity and minimize operational risks.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the organization.
    • Manage the infrastructure and resources of the two sites, including animal housing, equipment, and utilities.
    • Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure the health and welfare of research animals, adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines governing animal research, working with regulatory and ensuring full compliance at all times.
    • Provide strong leadership to a multidisciplinary team of researchers, veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting professional development and employee engagement.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, veterinary medicine, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., PhD, DVM, MBA) preferred.
    • Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) in a leadership role within animal testing or pre clinical facilities, with a focus on animal research.
    • In-depth knowledge of animal welfare regulations, including USDA, AAALAC, and IACUC standards.
    • Proven track record of successfully managing complex operations
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve organizational goals.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and a commitment to ethical research practices.
    • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including researchers, regulators, and the public.
