    • Requires 60 college semester hours or 90 college quarter hours (approximately 2 years of study) or an equivalent associate degree or pass the Paraprofessional Assessment Test

    Primary Job Goal: The Classroom Paraprofessional works under the general supervision of the classroom teacher to support the educational activities and needs of students. This role involves conducting small group or individual classroom activities, assisting with student assessments, maintaining records, and providing supervision as needed.

    Performance Duties & Responsibilities:
    1. Conduct small group or individual classroom activities based on teacher-developed lesson plans.
    2. Assist with the supervision of students during various activities.
    3. Support student assessments, grading work and tests, and collecting data on student progress.
    4. Maintain routine record-keeping tasks.
    5. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials, including copying, displays, learning centers, and manipulatives.
    6. Locate, operate, and return necessary equipment for classroom activities.
    7. Assist in managing classroom inventory and ordering supplies.
    8. Support classroom housekeeping duties.
    9. Contribute to school-wide supervision efforts.
    10. Maintain a Paraprofessional Certificate and fulfill required professional learning hours.
    11. Assist students with toileting and hygiene when necessary.
    12. Enforce reasonable discipline and escalate issues to the supervising teacher.
    13. Provide direct instruction to students in content areas, assist with data collection, and conduct formal and informal assessments.
    14. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with staff members.
    15. Work individually with students or in small groups to reinforce learning and behavioral objectives.
    16. Utilize basic computer skills for tasks such as word processing, email, troubleshooting, and communication regarding technical issues.
    17. This position operates under the general direction of the classroom teacher and requires strong communication skills, organization, and a commitment to supporting student learning and development.
    18. Performs other duties and complies with any reasonable job-related request as assigned by administrators
    Other Functions:
    • Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit are met.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
    Working Environment:

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:

    Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 60% walking/standing, 20% lifting/carrying, on occasion.
