At Action Traffic Maintenance, the role of the Diesel Technician is an essential element in maintaining the efficiencies and productivity of the projects within the organization.
We look to our mechanics to keep our fleet working effectively on the road.We look to our mechanics to know how to repair and perform routine maintenance on all fleet vehicles, including, but not limited to, cars, trucks, and other motor vehicles.

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples only include some of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
Inspect completed work to ensure proper functioning.
Inspect mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems.
Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning.
Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
Maintain repair or maintenance records.
Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them properly.
Dismantle heavy equipment or machinery.
Schedule repair, installation, or maintenance activities.
Performs further tests, including driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
Making Decisions and Solving Problems
Controlling Machines and Processes
Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment and keep equipment service records.
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Five years or more of related experience preferred but not required
Valid Driver's license required, must be insurable under the company's vehicle insurance policy, as regular travel is an essential function of the role.
Driver's License with CDL A or B- Preferred but not requiredAt Action Traffic's discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
Excellent mechanical repair skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software used internally through Action Traffic Maintenance.
Ability to read service and repair manuals.
Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
Ability to read work orders.
Ability to utilize all Action Traffic Software to maintain records of work orders and fleet maintenance.
Works well in a team environment where situations and demands change daily.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical equipment and is exposed to weather conditions & uneven terrain as well as is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and noxious odors.
